The names pin ........ terry pin

finished this the other day but forgot to post it as been busy. Only took me a couple of hours. Ive been really enjoying z brush just now as well as the rendering from it swell. It has made my 3d concept workflow a lot faster. I plan to keep on just battering out some brush models to help increase my speed and efficiency. Here are some different colour schemes. Im just experimenting with different moods and tones. Looking over them now the last one looks a bit grootesc from guardians of the galaxy ( non intentional ). Whats your thoughts ?

some WIPS for the fur

so was just playing about with fibermesh and lighting just to see the different looks i can achieve. Through this little furry guy I've learned how to render and light in brush. This can help me fire out good concepts in z brush without having to export and render in another software. I also got to play with pose master which was fun and very helpful. The initial design has changed a bit but still got a lot of work to do on the fur. Will need to do a bit of grooming. Ill keep you updated.

SprayPaint commision WIP

So my old boss asked me to do some murals/graffiti in Dundees Underground Nightclub girls toilets. Its a work in progress as under estimated how much black i would need. Ill hopefully be able to get back up to dundee to finish it in the next week or two when i have more time off work. The Blue haired girl needs a lot more work but i feel its coming together.

Blog looks a bit sketchy

So I've came to terms that since starting 3d I've fell away from drawing so i thought i would start to update my blog with some sketches thrown into PS. This can help me see my progress and i can use this as a bench mark to look back on further down the line. More soon :)

PARTICLES!

So i fancied learning about particles and dynamics as they are pretty key when it comes to vfx and it looks awesome. So here is a little text messing about with a sand effects. I think i need to play with the settings more to help enhance the shape of the creature so it is more visible. This could also be down to the animation which i feel i might change. I plan to incorporate it into some live footage once i have all the setting nailed.

Keyshot

So I've been updating my showreel and been working on a character. I had a full body but due to the time limit i have to complete and an error in the process i have only had time to render out the head with realistic textures. The model is based on my brother with some increased muscle mass around the neck. i used keyshot to render which is a brilliant peace of kit and very easy to pick up and use. Any feedback is much obliged.

Z-DIRECTION

So I've been giving some thoughts into the direction i want to take my self in the industry. Through sources i believe that employers are now looking for more specialised skills. So seen as i enjoy modelling and sculpting i feel that i now just have to start locking myself down to just modelling and sculpting. This stops me from trying to learn to many thing at the same time and helps me focus on one. So heres a bust i did in brush. Im trying to practice my forms of the face so i will become a lot more efficient when speed sculpting. I need to do a lot more of these on a regular basis. Please feel free to comment :)

WIPalicious

So after using brush to sculpt in some form i have finished my creature i went with a mixture of some of the designs. For the topology to run smooth I've modelled the creature with it mouth open. I'm trying a different approach and sculpting and modelling straight in brush then retopoligizing (if thats a word) using zremesher at early stages. I made the mistake of leaving it to the end which resorted to me having to sculpt details again. Its not perfect but it will do for now. The point in this project is more for the experience of the vfx side. So incorporating it into live footage using hdri maps and different lighting to achieve the realism. Here are some snap shots from brush thrown into photoshop. Ive added the tongue into the maya file i have. The teeth look a bit dodgy but this will all be fixed when it comes to lighting and shading later on in the project. Next step is RIGGING! not my strongest point but always good to get some practice in. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Creature Concepts

So I've started a new VFX project so it gives me something for my showreel. It will involve creating a monster and incorporating it into a video environment and hopefully making it appear to belong to the video. Here are some concepts of some monsters which I'm pretty happy with. Was trying different things in photoshop to get these to work together. let me know what yous think.

Its been a while

Dear Blog,

I apologize for neglecting you over the festive period it will not happen again. Anyway I've finally got back into the work flow and have been doing a tutorial the other day to take my audi to a final finished render that i am really happy with. The tutorial helps incorporate a still image with a hdri onto your model giving photo realistic results. I used the standard image that they provided but now i know how to do it i plan to start to take my own images/videos to start practicing for visual effects. I got my canon 600D yesterday so now i have no drawbacks or excuses. So i have a new toy to play with :). Anyway enough of my noise here is my final render which i am really happy with. Any advice or comments are more than welcome.
